Harry is UKCEH鈥檚 Associate Director of International Research & Development and Managing Director of UKCEH International Ltd. He provides strategic leadership for international activities across the organisation. Harry is an experienced science leader with track record of delivering large-scale, complex research and operational progammes/projects around the world. He has led the development of international multi-disciplinary community knowledge sharing networks, operational delivery national data centres and large research Groups.
Harry has extensive experience engaging with UN on research, policy and capacity development. He is the UK鈥檚 Hydrological Adviser to the World Meteorological Organization (), a member of their Hydrological Coordination Panel and Chair of the Advisory Council. Harry Chairs the UK Committee for International Hydrology, coordinating UK input to the . He is a Governing Board Member for the University of Dundee's .
Prior to his current role, Harry led UKCEH鈥檚 Water Resources Systems Group and was Deputy Science Area Head. As a hydrologist specialising in data collection and management, Harry has held several roles since joining CEH in 2007 including: as Head of the and on projects related to satellite river flow measurement; cosmic-ray based soil moisture monitoring; design of Mediterranean runoff monitoring networks; development of data sharing policies in the Balkans; and capacity development programmes in Southeast Asia. In 2016 Harry co-led the establishment of the India-UK Water 皇冠体育国际娱乐 on behalf of the UK and Indian Governments.
Harry is an Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham.
