Overview

Zeke is an ecological data scientist and plant ecologist whose primary interest is in the creation of decision support tools and models which aid in the improvement of ecological restoration and habitat management outcomes. His key outputs include:

RMAVIS

RMAVIS is a web application for the assignment of vegetation plot data to GB National Vegetation Classification communities.

National Vegetation Plot Database

The GBNVPD is the centralised database for the storage of vegetation plot data in Great Britain.

Ecological Niche Models for the Plants of Europe

elements is a R package containing ecological niche models for the most prevalent vascular plants, bryophytes, and terricolous lichens in the European Vegetation Archive.

Interests

In addition to his scientific work, Zeke is also passionate about conservation horticulture, working with Kew Wakehurst to develop a propagation protocol for the controlled pollination of Populus nigra subsp. betulifolia, is a trained seed collector for the Millennium Seed Bank, and works to conserve rare, scarce, and threatened vascular plant species in VC66 at Durham University Botanic Gardens.
