Professional summary
Deena is an environmental data scientist and modeller with experience in the development of ecosystem models, scientific programming and data management. As Senior Data Steward, Deena works alongside scientists to identify, plan and implement work to improve data management practice across UKCEH. This serves the essential purpose of increasing UKCEH's capability to address complex environmental questions by enabling access to, and re-use of, data resources. Deena has a wide range of computing skills and many years鈥 experience working within teams modelling biological processes and using data in a variety of formats.
Deena鈥檚 research interests have included agroforestry modelling, the 'Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) Sector' in Greenhouse Gas Inventories and spatial mapping of carbon sinks and sources related to UK LULUCF. Her current research includes developing a model to estimate the population consequences of displacement from proposed offshore renewable energy developments for key species of seabirds, and developing the Cumulative Effects Framework to facilitate the robust assessment of cumulative effects using a consistent and transparent approach to the collation and analysis of the best available data.
